Project Management - Automation

At Wolfspeed I am manage manufacturing process automation projects. I am on the other side of my application engineering role, instead of working for an integrator, i am working with integrators to bring in $20+ million dollars of automation equipment.

Production Support

In my engineering support role with BAE Systems, Inc, I was on the ground every day walking the weld, machining, and assembly lines investigating and troubleshooting issues.

While at Weldon Solutions, on top of installing and commissioning the systems for production, I also responded to service calls when systems broke down in the field. If I could not remedy the issue over the phone I would head out the next day to trouble shoot and get the systems back to running production.

Application Engineering - Robotic and automated Production

As an application engineer at Weldon Solutions, I was responsible for specifying and developing application specific tooling and writing the code for the production systems we delivered. These systems included CNC grinders and FANUC robotic arms, often used together.

The CNC grinders used a FANUC control and I wrote the programs in G and M code. Not only do the parts need to be ground, but the wheel has to be dressed, automatic and in-process probes provide live feedback to help the program determine how much more to grind, and state of the machine must be monitored as well.

The FANUC robotic arms used a similar control, however all programming was done through the attached Teach Pendent. We also used the robot control to tie together any other systems in the cell and maintain the process of the operation. These other systems often included blow-off stations, electronic gauges, and parts suppliers.
